In this course, we will review the Guideline Technical Document for Chlorine under the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality. We’ll also look at the Chemistry of Chlorine in unit 2 and in unit 3 we’ll review the Summary Tables of the Canadian Drinking Water Quality Guidelines. All information is presented in the form of a “Website based Course Manual”. Portions of the course website based manual was developed by Health Canada and includes a summarization of information used to support the current Health Canada Guidelines related to chlorine in Drinking Water in Canada. The course manual includes audio narration to minimise any reading. The narration includes a speed control mechanism so you can turbo charge your comprehension while minimizing the time to complete this course.
We focus on Chlorine as a chemical, the uses of chlorine in water treatment and the health effects related to exposure to chlorine in drinking water supplies. This Guideline Technical Document forms the bases for the Guideline for Canadian Drinking Water Quality perimeter related to chlorine in drinking water. This is not a health and safety course related to chlorine nor does it focus on disinfection math. We do look at some First Aid and Health and Safety in the science unit 2, but this is not the focus of this course.
